STV at a Glance 2013 STV Industry Profile

Audience measurement is conducted across three separate and unique panels: National STV (subscription TV homes nationwide), Metro Homes (5 capital cities) and Regional Homes (regional Australia). Share of viewing varies by panel. Sources: OzTAM (NatSTV, MTV) & RegionalTAM (RTV)

Share of viewing has changed over time, with STV share increasing to a current average (June 2012) of 23% in the five capital cities. Current ratings found here.

In 2012 OzTAM released the Australian Multi-screen Report, highlighting trends in video viewership beyond conventional TV Sets. The report revealed that Australians spend 96% of their monthly viewing time watching TV at home.

Advertisers recognise the value of STV and revenue continues to increase even in a difficult economic environment.

Subscription TV continues to attract advertising dollars as other media show decline.

While STV continues to expand in Australia the subscription rate of 34% of Australian homes is relatively small in comparison to the US, UK and the global average.
