Chika Anyanwu

Chika Anyanwu is the Head of School of Communication and Creative Industries at Charles Sturt University (CSU). Chika’s professional backgrounds cover stage, Screen, Leadership and Management. He has a First Class Honours in Theatre Arts, Masters in Media Arts, PhD in Film, and Graduate qualification in Leadership and Management. He is a Fellow of the Governor’s Leadership Foundation. Chika is a modern day global citizen with roots in Africa, Australia and Europe. He has also worked and lived in Papua New Guinea, where he founded the Media Arts program of the University of Papua New Guinea. He spent time in the USA where he did his research Fellowships at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and University of Southern California in LA. Prior to coming to CSU, he was the Founding Head of Media at the University of Adelaide in South Australia. Before Adelaide, he also headed the Mass Communication program at Curtin University of Technology Perth, Western Australia. His areas of expertise include creative industries, Nollywood cinema, migration, multiculturalism, and youth empowerment. He has published widely in academic research journals and books, written government reports, as well as in cross media platforms such as TV, stage, film and online programs. He enjoys his long walks, travels and nice red.
