Angelos Frangopoulos

Angelos Frangopoulos is the Chief Executive Officer at Australian News Channel Pty Ltd (ANC), the leading provider of 24 hour television news services in Australia and New Zealand. ANC produces more news and current affairs programming than all Australian television networks combined.

Its news services include SKY NEWS National (ch 601), SKY NEWS Business (ch 602), SKY NEWS Weather (ch 603), Australia’s Public Affairs Channel (ch 648), SKY NEWS New Zealand, SKY NEWS Multiview and SKY NEWS Local.

The company is a joint venture of Seven West Media, Nine Entertainment Company and British Sky Broadcasting.

Angelos joined the company in July 1996, five months after the channel’s inception.

After serving as Chief of Production, he was appointed Managing Editor in 2000 and then Chief Executive Officer in 2004.

Prior to joining ANC, Angelos held positions at British Sky Broadcasting in London, the Nine Network in Sydney and Prime Television, Canberra. Early in his career he also worked at Mid State Television Orange.

Angelos holds a Bachelor of Arts - Communication from Mitchell College, Bathurst. During his studies Angelos was actively involved in the developing years of Community Radio in Sydney, Orange and Bathurst.

Angelos is Chairman of the Australia Day Council of NSW, Chair of the Centre for Media History at Macquarie University, a former Council Member of Charles Sturt University, a Director of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA) and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He is married to Rebecca and has four children; Libby, Amy, Max and Leo.
